Litha, celebrated between June 19 and 23 (usually the 21st), is the summer solstice festival. This Sabbath therefore marks the official entry into the summer. This is a great time for magic. During the summer solstice, nature is at the peak of its power, but the light is gradually beginning to decrease in view of Winter.
In the past, bonfires were lit to promote fertility, purification, health and love: the Litha Fires, which later became st. John's Fires.
